Tip Don’t wait until your last night to view your photos! Visit throughout the cruise and save yourself from waiting in line for a kiosk and wasting your final cruise night. For specific locations and schedules, check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, the Personal Navigator newsletter or stop by Guest Services on Deck 3, Midship.
How much does a Disney cruise photo package cost?
You have to be willing to stop what you are doing and wait to get a picture. We recently went on a 7 day Disney cruise and spent a ton of money. One thing that I splashed out on was the Disney photo package.

DCL takes many of its photos in a 6″x8″ ratio, this means that there may be some unintentionally wonky cropping when you have your pictures printed. The upshot is – a purchased package is exclusive to the stateroom, but other people can be in the image. As long as at least one person from the stateroom with a purchased package is in the photo, then that photo will be included in their purchase. The bottom line is you want at least one person from the paid package stateroom to be in the photo for it to be included in your package. To be safe, you probably want the photo package to be attached to the stateroom with the kids (that is, if you brought them;).
Disney Cruise Line Photo Package
Pre-teens and teens, they will register once you are onboard at the Edge and/or the Vibe. If you haven’t downloaded the app, now is the time to do it; you will use it for most things on board. The biggest recommendation is to gather all your documents and take all your pictures BEFORE you start completing the forms. When you choose to apply (and are approved) for a new credit card through our site, we may receive compensation from our partners, and this may impact how or where these products appear. Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. It's not quite ready yet, but a demo was set up for us by a team of Imagineers during the preview sailing.
They take your photo which is then linked to your photo account through either facial recognition, by asking your room number, or by swiping your room key. At any time during your cruise, you can stop by Shutters (mid-ship, adjacent to the atrium) and view your photos. You can view them on a computer screen by swiping your room key at one of the kiosks during Shutters’ operating hours. Note that the facial recognition software is not fool proof, so try and remember each time you have your photo taken and then make sure the photo shows up in your account. If you notice you are missing any photos, ask a Shutters employee to help you find it in the system and add it to your account. You might also see photos of other people in your account, which you can mark as not belonging to you and they will then no longer show up.

The package can be purchased through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once your window has opened. This is your best bet, as you do receive a discount when pre-purchasing the photos. But if you truly don’t, the package can be canceled onboard as long as no images have been downloaded.
Backdrops range from inoffensive and nondescript solid colors, to in-your-face (literally) photos of the ships. Most folks are going to want to document some of that fun with photos. You can, of course, use your own phone or camera to take pictures, but like the Disney theme parks, there are professional photo packages available. Photographers seemed AWOL on my recent 6 night Disney Wonder cruise over New Years .

I know that there are such things as selfie sticks but nothing beats a great photo of the whole family having fun on a Disney cruise. If you want a formal night photo be aware that you may be standing in line for quite a while. They also set up lots of photo backgrounds around the ship. When you board a Disney cruise the first thing you do is hand your Key To The World Card to be swiped to show you have entered the ship. A video of the incident shows the Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew executing a medevac in order to transport the patient safely to land by helicopter.
Travelling With Children
I enjoy seeing the Disney characters on the ship, but love seeing Mickey and his pals even more at Castaway Cay. Some other cruise line's private islands, like Norwegian's Great Stirrup Cay, don't have a dock, so cruisers must take tender ships (small boats) from the cruise ship to the island. During check-in, you will also find some optional forms. They include authorization to administer an epi-pen, special services form, and authorization for minors travelling without a parent or legal guardian. You will need a picture of the photo page of your passport. If you’re using a driver’s license, you will need to have a photo of the front and the back of it.
As long as you have not yet downloaded any photos, you can go to the Shutters photo desk on your ship and you can have your purchase cancelled and refunded. Weather permitting, there will be at least a few photographers available when the DCL ships dock at Castaway Cay (and presumably at Lighthouse Point when it opens). On rare occasion, you may find a DCL photographer stationed outside the ship in another port. For example, during a Mediterranean voyage, I encountered DCL photographers on the disembarkation pier when leaving the ship at Villefranche and Civitavecchia. Yes, DCL offers mugs, mousepads, plaques, and other items imprinted with your photos. You can order these on the ships or via the DCL photo website.
There you will find digital kiosks where you can view your photos. The best part about seeing the characters is that the lines to take pictures with them are never long. On a recent sailing, I saw Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto all in 30 minutes. My husband and I live on the East Coast of Canada. When I am not working I love travelling, crafting, photography, playing board games, and planning vacations. Check out the other menus for the restaurants on the Wish.
Another great bar that's worth a visit is The Bayou. With its New Orleans vibe, it's an obvious tie-in to "The Princess and the Frog," boasting earthy tones and a ceiling overflowing with flowers. Rumor has it that you can also find beignets at this outpost.
